In the lead up to the Isle of Man’s MONEYVAL assessment in October 2025, over 70 compliance, legal and regulatory professionals gathered at the Comis Hotel & Golf Resort for an event that was not only well attended, it was timely, practical, and powerfully relevant.

Hosted by Verify by Tiller, Preparing for MONEYVAL brought together speakers and delegates from across the financial services sector for a morning of candid discussion, strategic reflection, and insight-sharing.

As Jonathan Wauton, CEO of Tiller Technologies, noted in his welcome:

“We can't afford to be isolated islands. That’s why we’re hosting events like this, not just here, but across other jurisdictions too. Every time we do, we learn something we can pass on.”

Why This Event Resonated

MONEYVAL assessments are pivotal. They measure not just regulatory alignment but how effectively a jurisdiction enforces and evidences compliance. With Jersey’s recent evaluation offering both reassurance and warning, the Isle of Man’s financial community showed it’s paying close attention.

What set this event apart was the energy in the room: high engagement, excellent questions, and a shared sense of purpose. The session wasn’t just well attended, it was participatory, proactive, and honest.

The Panel: Knowledge From All Sides

Chaired by Sinead O’Connor (DQ Advocates), the panel included:

  • David Baker, Isle of Man Financial Services Authority (FSA)

  • Shannon Reid, Gambling Supervision Commission (GSC)

  • Scott Le Flour, Triskèle Solutions (Jersey)

Their commentary reflected deep regulatory knowledge and practical experience:

“You don’t have to meet the evaluators. But you should want to. You want to be able to sell your sector, your jurisdiction, and show where you're making an impact.”
David Baker, FSA

“Risk understanding has to exist beyond compliance teams. It needs to be understood board down,  from governance to front- ine.”
Shannon Reid, GSC

Insights & Takeaways

This wasn’t a session for box ticking advice. The message was clear: preparation is cultural, not just procedural. Key insights included:

  • Evidence is everything: A clean report means proving effectiveness, not just technical compliance. Case studies and operational outcomes matter.

  • Everyone plays a part: Whether you’re an MLRO, director, or supervisor, your awareness and attitude influence the outcome.

  • Jersey’s experience offers clear lessons: Even high-performing jurisdictions faced scrutiny on supervisory effectiveness and risk communication.

  • Technology is a strategic advantage: Platforms like Verify help firms map to evolving handbooks, embed risk alignment, and demonstrate defensibility.

“The work starts long before the evaluators arrive. It’s about understanding what’s coming and being ready to walk into the room with confidence.”
Scott Le Flour, Triskèle Solutions

Why We’re Running These Events

Events like this aren’t marketing, they’re part of a broader thought leadership initiative. Verify by Tiller launched in the Isle of Man in October 2024. Since then, we’ve focused not only on delivering a powerful AML platform but on creating space for meaningful, strategic dialogue.

“We’ve [IOM FSA] changed timelines and adapted processes because of industry engagement. That feedback loop is powerful. Please keep it going.”
David Baker, FSA

This is the kind of relationship we aim to foster: one that is informed, collaborative, and evolving.

The Momentum Ahead

This event marks just one part of our growing presence across the Isle of Man. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and the appetite for practical, defensible compliance strategies has never been stronger.

“If you’re preparing for MONEYVAL, or thinking about aligning your AML processes, now’s the time. We’re here to help.”
